| | | The
2006 Biggame Hunting Season The biggame hunting season is well under
way here at the Rockin' 7 Ranch. We've had some great hunts, and even greater
stories, from the 15 shot antelope hunt to the 4 coyotes coming in and attacking
Danny's dieing rabbit blues that he had practiced endlessly. We are anticipating
several more hunts, so please come back often and check the new pictures. Oct.
9, 2006 We are just about wrapping up our deer and antelope season,
and we have had an amazing year. Here is a small sampling of the pictures that
we will get up within the next few weeks. As we get the photos from the guides,
we will get all the pictures up.
Check back soon for pictures of the 29 1/2" mule deer just taken!

Up--Let the Elk season begin! We killed our first elk of the year
on Oct. 21--we have 3 more to go! We are down to our last two mule deer hunters.
Oct.
22, 2006 We've
finished up our big game season, going 4 for 4 on our elk hunters, 38 out of 39
on our antelope, and 26 out of 26 on our mule deer. We had our first ever Grand
Slam, and also our first ever overseas hunters--coming all the way from Essex,
UK!November
19, 2006 Thanks to everyone that has been out so far this season,
and looking forward to meeting those of you still coming! |
Biggest of the Year--2006 | | Well
Steve, your opening day buck is going to hold on for the biggest of the year.
Although several came close to pushing you off the leader board, your 15 1/4 inch
pronghorn was just too good. | Its
a good thing Steve "Uncle" Malloch didn't take two "warm-up shots"
with this monster buck! 27" wide and 13 points total, this heavy framed granddaddy
was shot on October 12 at 184 yards with a .300 Ultra Mag. I know you would have
been happy with the one standing up Steve, but I'm glad you were (barely) patient
enough to wait for the one lieing down! |

 | Larry
Morris with an awesome bull shot on November 11, 2006. A 6X6 with good mass, Larry
put the big bull down with a .300 Win. Mag. | Here's
the big 29 1/2 inch mule deer shot by Jeff H. on October 9, 2006. We couldn't
decide which deer was bigger, so we put two mule deer in the "Biggest
of the Year" | | | "The
New Yorkers" with three great bull buffalo. I'm glad all three dropped so
close to each other that we were able to fit them into the picture (along with
a little help from Danny and Gary-o.k., a lot of help). The Rockin' 7 will never
be the same since you guys were here, but you are welcome to come back--anytime!! | Heather
R. with a huge coyote killed on October 17, 2006. This coyote had to weigh over
50 pounds, and had the thickest pelt I have ever seen! It came within 50 yards,
and Heather's .270 took the big dog with very little pelt damage. | | | The
guide crew at the Rockin' 7. (Back from left) Gary, Brad, Danny, Joel (Front

Cooks! Crystal and Cheryl. |
 | | Congratulations
to Curtis Marks of Windermere, Florida for completing the first Rockin' 7 Grand
Slam!! Curtis shot all four of these trophies with 6 days of hunting. He also
shot some Hungarian Partidge, Sharp-tailed grouse, and narrowly missed adding
a coyote. All this, and he still had time to educate Joel and I in a game of Texas
Hold'em. Thanks Curtis, it was a pleasure having you! |

B. | | | | | "I
took the antelope about 11.30 AM of the first day. We made a nice stalk, repositioning
two or three times and I was able to make a nice shot at about 140 yards just
before the antelope went down a draw and out of sight." Dr. Dave D.--Fenton,
MI | "We
worked hard all week to find a really nice mule deer and never were able to see
just what we wanted, but the deer we took was a fine deer, taken with a nice shot
after a 3/4 mile stalk at 275 yards at about 6 PM of our final day, with a great
sunset forming in the background." Dr. Dave D. Thanks
for the pictures and compliments, Dave. It was a pleasure having both you and
Diana at the lodge.--Brad | Fill
early, or hear so many coyotes howling that you just have to try and call some
in, Carl and guide were glassing for deer and decided to start calling coyotes.
Starting from 1000 yards out, 3 coyotes came in and were greeted with a 115 grain
ballistic tip (yep, it did mess up a chance at a nice deer, but don't tell Joel).
"Wish you were here C.J. Buddy--next year for sure!" |

| | "Hungry"
Howard Ashforth, Paul McCudden, and Kevin Drakes all from Essex, UK (70 miles
east of London) with an excellent coyote hunt. Our first hunters from overseas,
these guys knew what to do when it came to shooting coyotes. On a 6 day hunt,
they killed 9 coyotes, and saw over 30. It was a pleasure having you guys, and
although a 12 hour flight is a long ways to come for shooting coyotes, we hope
to see you again! |
 | | | Heather

a great spread, Heather shot him with a .270 at 278 yards. Special thanks to Mike

B. with an excellent 6 point bull shot on November 17, 2006. We waited all afternoon
for the big bull to get up from his bed, and when he did, he walked in front of
us at 107 yards. The bull took three well placed shots from a .300 Win. Mag. before
he went down. Guide--Brad

A. from Houston, TX with a great mule deer shot on Oct. 21, 2006. Guide--Joel
B. | Scott
R. from Lincoln, NE with a darker coyote. After howling back at us, it didn't
take a pair of coyotes long to come within 150 yards of us. Scott did his job
with a 6 mm, and that is going to be a nice pelt on the wall! Guide--Brad
