| Huns
on Horseback!!
Our
specialty hunt is the horseback hunt for Hungarian Partridge and sharp-tailed
grouse. The combination of two great outdoor activities--horseback riding and
upland bird hunting shouldn't be so hard to find. It is just a logical choice
when you consider the vastness of Wyoming country. These
hunts use pointing dogs that range upto 100 yards away from the horses. When they
go on point, hunters dismount and walk up and flush the birds. The beauty of the
Hun and Sharpie is that we can typically walk and get a second or third rise out
of the same covey. After a couple of rises, we can mount up and look for another,
all the while letting the horses and dogs do the work. | | Watch

is a hunting trip for three different species of gamebirds. We are in Wyoming
with Jessie and a Curly Coated Retriever named Thunder. We seek Prairie Sharptail
Grouse, Hungarian Partridge and Pheasants. We are hosted by the guides at the

With
105,000 acres of private land, and by limiting the number of hunters, we are able
to keep the bird hunting pressure low. You will have prime opportunities to hunt
wild birds, and will not have to worry about seeing any other hunters. For the
die-hards, we can do 100% all wild hunts, and for the hunters that want a little
more shooting action, we can combine wild birds and released birds.
Our primary bird is the Hungarian Partridge. If you have never hunted wild Huns
before, you will find them as exciting and challenging as any upland species.
They are a covey bird that will rise and fly together....fast! The
Sharptails are usually found while in the fields chasing the Huns. The sharptails,
while not as prevalent as the Huns, are found throughout the ranch in good numbers
and consist of a completely wild, natural population. |
