Buffalo Hunting at the Rockin’ 7 Ranch provides first rate guided buffalo hunts with restful stays at the Rockin’ 7 Lodge. Our Buffalo hunting is for the biggest buffalo on the ranch and it includes all of the buffalo. There are no hidden charges or trophy fees. We charge one price and that price is for pick of the herd. No questions–nobody telling you which one to shoot, you pick the one you like and he’s yours.
We drive you out into a 3,000 acre pasture and you shoot the buffalo you want. This pasture has rolling hills, and we can park the truck and stalk around the top of a hill and get a good vantage point. Usually we can stalk close enough to get a good 100 yard shot. We clean the buffalo in the pasture and deliver it to the processors. There are several 6+ year old bulls that are enormous, and would make great fireplace mounts. Total herd size is approximately 140.
Our buffalo hunts take place in Shawnee, Wyoming which is about 130 miles north of Cheyenne. It is best to drive out to the buffalo hunt, and haul your meat home. This meat is the cleanest, most wholesome meat in the world, with absolutely no grain, hormones, or antibiotics. They are free ranging on nearly 4 square miles of grass, and that is their only diet–natural, Wyoming grass. One of these big bulls will yield around 380 lbs of meat.
Buffalo are big creatures, and we recommend a rifle .30 caliber or larger. Our processor takes just under 48 hours to have the meat packaged, frozen, and ready to go. We also have a local taxidermist that can meet us at the processors and take care of all your taxidermy and tanning needs.

Deposit Information
- Our bull buffalo hunts require a $2,000 deposit, with the balance due upon arrival.
- We will refund 50% of deposit if notified more than 45 days of hunt; less than 45 days and the deposit is Non-Refundable.
- Personal checks, Cashiers Checks, Cash, VISA and Master Card, American Express, and Discover will be accepted for deposits and final balance. *A 3% convenience fee will be added to all payments made with a credit card.
